The Book Blog Newbie Tag

Hello! Today I decided to participate in the Book Blog Newbie Tag. I just started this blog within the past week and wanted to find a way to introduce myself and give people an idea of what to expect. I found this tag in a post by Books for a Hufflepuff and decided to try it myself!

Why did you start this blog?

I started this blog because I wanted an outlet to express my love of reading where I could also connect with others who love books! Unfortunately, I do not have many people in my life who enjoy reading. This blog will give me the opportunity to become a part of the online community of book lovers.

What are the fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging?

I think everyone brings their own perspectives and experiences into reading and reviewing. I love that you can read multiple reviews for the same book and see how everyone perceived it differently. I can offer my unique perspective that hopefully, you enjoy! I also am working on some fun blog ideas I will implement once I get everything going smoothly.

What are you most excited for about this new blog?

I am so excited to (hopefully) connect with other bloggers and book lovers! Please reach out and let me know about your book blog or booktube channel if you have either!

Why do you love reading?

I enjoy reading for many, many reasons. I love fantasy because I find complex worlds and get to escape into them. But, I also love historical fiction and contemporary books that give me a perspective that is completely new to me. I love being able to gain knowledge and empathy from a book and bring them with me into my life experiences.

What book/ series got you into reading?

Percy Jackson! 12 years old! Read the whole series in a week! I liked to read before then but this series really opened up the world of books to me.

What questions would you ask your favorite authors?

How do you create completely new worlds in your head? What inspires you? What is your favorite thing you’ve ever written? Literally just how do you do it? (I’m clearly not a creative writer and can’t process how a person writes an actual book).

What challenges do you think starting a blog will be the hardest to overcome?

I think it will be hard for me to put myself out there and promote my blog. I am going to step out of my comfort zone and hopefully it will pay off with some great new friends! 🙂 Oh my gosh and formatting issues! I feel like free WordPress gives me very few options and no guidance! If you have any advice, I would LOVE to hear it.

When did you start reading?

I’ve been reading for as long as I can remember. When I was a child, my mother and I would listen to audiobooks all the time such as Little Women, Peter Pan, Anne of Green Gables, and The Chronicles of Narnia. Other childhood favorites that I read myself were Matilda, Harriet the Spy, and Ella Enchanted (aka my first “The book is so much better than the movie!).

Where do you read?

I read mostly at home on my couch or in bed. I have gotten into audiobooks lately so I listen while I get ready, clean the house, walk my dogs, drive to work, etc. Basically, I never stop reading!

What kind of books do you like to read?

My FAVORITE book genre is fantasy. I have read a lot of YA Fantasy and I’m trying to get more My FAVORITE book genre is fantasy. I have read a lot of YA Fantasy and I’m trying to get more into adult fantasy as well (if you have any suggestions let me know). I also enjoy historical fiction, especially if it takes place in a unique time period I haven’t read about before (sorry WWII books). I recently have started getting into the mystery/thriller genre as well.

Well, that’s it! Thank you so much to anyone who actually went through and read all of that. You’re awesome. If you’re a new blogger and you do this tag let me know so I can go check it out! Thank you so much again for visiting my blog! Happy reading!

  1. Hey there! Awesome post! I loved getting to know more about you. I’m also a newbie (but I got a tiny little bit of experience since I started blogging last year and gave up after like three months) (yikes I know 😂) We should definitely help each other out! I’m also a big fan of fantasy and contemporary. What are your faves? And wooow I also really love percy jackson! I think they were the first books I read in english so they hold a special place in my heart haha. I have to admit I haven’t read trials of apollo yet, but I’m dying to! Just too many things to read 😭 Either way, it was nice to meet you! Sending lots of love ❤️❤️

    1. Hi! It’s so nice to meet you too!! I haven’t read the Trials of Apollo yet either but I’ve heard they’re great so hopefully I can get around to them someday! I would love to help each other out as we start our blogs!! I can’t seem to get through to your blog (maybe it’s because I still don’t understand the mechanics of wordpress yet😂) What’s the link so I can check it out? Thanks so much for commenting ❤️

  2. I’m glad you started up this blog! I remember when I started my blog as well, I had very little people to share books with (reading wasn’t 100% cool when I was 12). I also liked YA Fantasy, but now I read whatever books sound good :’)

  3. Congratulations on starting a new blog ❤ I hope to see you around more often! I'm mostly the same – I've been reading since I was young! Percy Jackson was AMAZING – I didn't quite get into Trials of Apollo, but I still want to jump start that!

  4. I really enjoyed reading this post! It’s so interesting to get to know other book bloggers, and what brings them to blogging, their interests and why they love reading! I myself have found a new love for YA fantasy, and I am hoping to start exploring this genre more! I am also a new book blog, so I might have to give this tag a try? 🙂 I look forward to reading more posts from you!
