Hey everyone! I recently saw this tag when Jen from Jen of Books completed it earlier this week. She tagged everyone who read her post if they wanted to do it too. It looked like fun so I thought I would give it a try as well.
I will keep the chain going and tag anyone who sees my post and wants to make one themselves!
Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
I do not. I read wherever I feel most comfortable at the moment, the recliner, the couch, the bed, etc. I will get uncomfortable in one place for too long so I have to switch it up.
Bookmark or random piece of paper?
Bookmarks are great and I’ll use one if I have it on hand. But when it comes down to it, I am a random piece of paper kind of girl. My favorite bookmarks are an old sticky note my sister drew a picture on for me when she was little and a receipt from a vacation I went on with my husband. I love incorporating these memories into everyday use instead of letting them get thrown away or stuck in a drawer.
Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?
I prefer to stop at the end of a chapter, but if I start to feel disinterested or get distracted I will stop where I am. I would rather quit immediately than finish a chapter only paying half attention to what’s going on.
Do you eat or drink while reading?
I like to listen to audiobooks while I cook and eat. This way I can keep my hands free and my books safe from grease or food stains.
Multitasking: music or TV while reading?
Umm what? TV while reading? How do you watch tv and look at a book at the same time? This makes no sense to me. Please explain if you understand. I zone everything out while I read so I don’t use music unless I need it to tune out some background noise.
One book at a time or several at once?
Several at once! I like to have an audiobook and a physical book/ebook that I’m currently reading at any given time.
Reading at home or everywhere?
Mostly at home, with the exception of audiobooks in the car. Generally if I am going out somewhere, I am going to be working or interacting with people and not have time to read.
Reading out loud or silently in your head?
Silently!
Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
I definitely try to keep my books in the best condition possible, but I don’t stress about breaking the spine.
Do you write in your books?
I personally don’t. I am not against it but I find it hard to find space to write what I want to say in the margins. I take notes in a notebook or make highlights on kindle when I read an ebook.
Readabits Questions:
When do you find yourself reading?
Literally any time. I recently finished school and my work is also closed due to social distancing measures. I can chose any time of day to get some reading done.
What is your best setting to read in?
My best setting is anywhere in my home where there is no distractions like television or someone talking to me.
What do you do first, read or watch?
Okay so I used to be very strict about having to read the book before I watch. Within the past couple years, I stopped being so hard on myself about it. Now, I take it on a case by case basis and just let myself enjoy things in the way I want to.
What form do you prefer? Audiobook, E-Book, or Physical?
I LOVE audiobooks lately. I wouldn’t read half the books I do if I couldn’t listen while I walk my dogs or clean my house or drive around. I love both physical books and ebooks for their own reasons as well. There are definitely certain books that work better for audio and others that need to be read traditionally for the best experience.
Do you have a unique habit when you read?
I don’t think so. I don’t annotate or anything. I just read. 😂
Do book series have to match?
I’m sorry, but YES. If I buy a book, I need the rest of the series I buy to have matching covers. I HATE when publishers suddenly decide to change a series to have new, worse cover art. One of my biggest book-related pet peeves for sure.
What are your book reading habits? Let me know if you agree or disagree with any of my opinions. Also, let me know if you complete this tag as well!
This was a fun read! I would love to try it out for my next post!

This is a cool tag!
I’m the same honestly – I have a couple of mismatched series, which really frustrates me. I’m considering buying the same books again just to make sure I have the same covers. I also used to be super picky and try not to break the spine, but now I’m a bit more relaxed :’)

It’s so frustrating because I don’t want to spend the money again but if I own them they have to match! 😂

Great answers! I agree with you on so many of these! And I totally get your annoyance about the mismatched series – since I always try to buy the cheapest editions possible, this happens to me all the time, but it still drives me nuts… (Oh, and I actually did this tag ages ago, but if you still want to check it out, feel free: https://abookowlscorner.com/2018/05/19/reading-habits-book-tag/)

I might do this tag soon!
Also I have some of the Poldark series and that first one is different from the rest and it bothers me SO MUCH!

Scythe is incredible and I read The Cruel Prince in one day… well overnight when I couldn’t sleep. I read Six Of Crows right after Cruel Prince lol.
